What if architecture wasn't about adding, but about revealing what's already there?
With this thought-provoking question, we invite you into the world of visual artist Jurriaan Molenaar. For his latest sculpture, 'Passage' (2026), Molenaar returned to the essence of sculpture: the art of omission.
The story behind the stone It all began with a chance encounter on Nijverheidslaan in Weesp. Molenaar stumbled upon a characteristic stone that formed the seed for a larger idea. His vision? A future where we build with materials that the location provides us, simply by removing the 'unnecessary'.
The result was a temple-like sculpture with an intriguing tunnel that invites the viewer to look through the material.
