"Sangre de Toro" is an impressive 1991 silkscreen print by Paul Blanca (Amsterdam 1958-2021). The works in this series are printed in an edition of 55 copies, each signed and numbered. The silkscreen is printed on 300-gram Rives paper and measures 69 × 88 cm.

In 1990, Blanca lived in Spain, where his interest in bullfighting culminated in an intensely personal exploration of the body, ritual, and vulnerability. He personally participated in fights with bulls weighing approximately 850 pounds. He used the blood, which he called "the liquid of life," as the basis for the ink in this series. Only after 35 separate printings did he achieve the deep, dark red color he envisioned. This process makes the work both technically remarkable and intrinsically charged.

“Sangre de Toro” is considered one of Blanca’s most characteristic graphic projects, in which material, physical experience and visual language come together exceptionally.
